Guinea gained its independence in 1958. The flag is modelled on the French Tricolour but using the pan-african colours.

Yellow represents the sun and the riches of the earth. Red stand for the people's sacrifice. Green for the country's vegetation.

Guinea is rich in natural resources such as: Bauxite, iron ore, gold and diamonds. However, the countries income is largely based on subsistence agriculture.

The people from Guinea celebrate their Independence Day on 2nd October.
