Jamaica National Flag
The national flag of Jamaica consists of three colours.
Black, green and gold, each with their own specific meaning. Gold symbolises
the beauty of sunlight and the natural wealth that sunlight holds. Black
represents the creativity and strength of Jamaican people. Green is included to
depict hope and agricultural resources. This flag was first flown in 1962 on
Independence Day and was designed by a committee within the Jamaica House of
Representatives.
