Capital City Valletta
Valletta is one of the smallest capital cities. Walk through the narrow streets and admire the beautiful painted window boxes and doors. Surrounded by water, take a short cruise around the city. Malta has a long History. Great Britain acquired Malta in the early 19th century. The island supported the United Kingdom through WW One and WW2. When it became independent in 1964 it remained in the Commonwealth. In December 1974 Malta became a Republic. Today Malta is an important port, a financial centre and a very popular tourist destination.
