The flag of the Cook Islands features a blue background, the Union Jack and 15 white stars positioned in a ring. The blue background displays the peaceful ocean nation the country is. While the Union Jack demonstrates the countries link with the Commonwealth. The colour white on the stars represent faith in god and the ring represents the unity and equality between each of the 15 islands.

The Cook Islands is a group of 15 small islands located in the south of the Pacific, and were named after Captain James Cook, who discovered the islands in 1773. However, the islands were not always named after Captain Cook, as he first named the islands Hervey Island. Before it was eventually changed in 1823 to the Cook Islands in honour of Captain James Cook. The islands have a population of approximately 17,450 people. Yet, more cook islanders live overseas with around 36,000 living in New Zealand alone.

The capital city of the Cook Islands is Avarua, which is located on the island of Rarotonga. The islands have a law that prevents buildings from being taller than a coconut tree, which helps promote the natural beauty of the islands even more. The Cook Islands are also safe from venomous snakes and spiders, and even dogs on the island Aitutaki.
